Roughly 1.5 million people in the United States suffer from a TBI each year. This pandemic prompted a recent revamp of the TBI Act in Washington which allots more money to the Department of Health to improve the services for TBI victims. Some of the most common causes of TBI include:

  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Weapons/firearms
  • Slip and falls can cause TBI, most commonly in the elderly
  • Violent shaking, as in shaken baby syndrome
  • Abuse
  • Assault
  • Military action
  • Medical malpractice
